Tip 1: Do Not Re-Cap the Syringe

Do not attempt to put the cap back on your used syringe. Syringes used in your treatment are intended for single-use only. Attempting to put the cap back on the syringe often results with you accidentally puncturing your skin with the needle. Once you have completed your injection, it is time to dispose of the syringe. We do not want to discard used and there is no need to put the cap back over the needle if you are disposing of the syringe immediately.

Tip 2: Prepare a Sharps Container

Before your first at-home injection, it is good practice to prepare a sharps container. A sharps container can be purchased from your local pharmacy, or you can use a hard plastic container, such as an empty laundry detergent container or milk jug. Make sure you keep your sharps container out of reach from children.

Tip 3: Dispose of the Sharps Container

Once full, you can bring this canister or sharps container to your local pharmacy or doctor’s office for disposal.
